Spring Jubilee In Pendleton SC

Every year we look forward to Spring Jubilee in our historic town of Pendleton South Carolina.  It is always held the first weekend in April so this year it will be April 4 and 5.  I watch the dogwoods surrounding our Village Green from the time they bud until they are in bloom hoping and praying that they will be in full bloom by Jubilee.  This is a time that we show off our town to over 20,000 visitors who come to see the talented artisans and entertainers and eat some delicious food.

Spring Jubilee is organized by the Pendleton District Commission and Jo McConnell is the one in charge.  As Events Coordinator for Pendleton District Commission, she makes sure that it is a top notch juried Arts and Crafts Festival.  This awarding winning festival is well known for it’s high quality.  This has not always been an easy task for Jo and she is to be commended for her determination to keep it that way.  There are approximately 300 applicants who each think they deserve the coveted 90 spaces.  The selection process is very strict and only the best are accepted by the committee.

I have made a lens about Spring Jubilee and dedicated it to Jo.

I love the spring time when the trees come into bud, the leaves come out, and in England I used to love watching for the first snowdrops and crocuses to appear. Here in Florida it’s always summer, although driving to work yesterday in 39 degrees and today with 42 I had to resort to putting a sweater on.

Looking forward to seeing the new lenses, will see if I can get there tonight as I can’t get into Squidoo from work.
