Ohme, Oh My!

I have known Kate and her husband for sometime and thoroughly enjoy all of Kate’s books. That is why I wanted to write a lens about them. Kate Salley Palmer is a very talented author and illustrator. Her stories are so very heart warming and are enjoyable for all ages.

At one time, Kate was a Political Cartoonist and to me that is miles apart from what she does today. As a Political Cartoonist she had to be well read on the subject but as an author she writes from the heart. It is so easy for me to put myself into one of her characters and feel like I am actually living her books. Her illustrations are so fun and lifelike. I don’t know how she does it but her characters do seem real with real emotions that you can actually see while reading. When I finish one of her books, I immediately want to go out and tell everyone I know about it because I know that they would enjoy it, too! They are delightful!

Kate Salley Palmer also writes about South Carolina and I firmly believe that these books should be required reading in every public school in our state. Her son, James, has done illustrations for some of these books. I know these must have required a lot of research and that is a recognized fact while reading.

Lego Products are hard to beat for a gift idea especially for the in between age. You know that age when a child thinks he or she is too old for toys but isn’t really. My grandson is 9 years old and is in that stage of life right now. He still enjoys playing but there is a part of him that thinks maybe he is too old to “Play”. I don’t feel like you ever get too old to play and evidently that is the same attitude that Lego has. They offer something challenging and exciting for all ages.
